Elton John & Band: concert on 24 July 2013 cancelled

International pop legend Sir Elton John has cancelled his concert scheduled for 24 July 2013 at La Salle des Etoiles!

The Monte-Carlo SBM Group and the Sporting Summer Festival regret to announce that the concert by Elton John & Band scheduled to take place on 24 July 2013 at the Sporting Monte-Carlo has been cancelled.

Sixty-six-year-old Elton John gives less than 120 concerts per year, and he has been advised by his doctors to cancel all upcoming concerts in his European tour, including the one at Hyde Park this Friday for the Barclaycard British Summer Time Festival.

The Monte-Carlo SBM Group and Elton John’s managers are currently working on a future date.

Tickets which have already been purchased will be reimbursed at standard ticket offices.

Elton John Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival 2013Over the course of his 40-year career, Sir Elton John has become one of the most emblematic figures on the international pop scene.

Reginald Kenneth Dwight – alias Elton John –  became passionate about music at a very young age and received first prize for the piano at the Royal Academy of Music at the age of eleven.

He surfed on the pop wave from the late ’60s with his hats and extravagant glasses and became a true star in the early ’70s. He has always embraced his eccentricities, even going so far as to parody himself with his high heels and strange costumes.

He is a remarkable pianist and has had several dozen hit songs, including: “Your Song”, “I’m Still Standing”, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”, “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word”, and more.

He has performed with the greatest contemporary artists including John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Tina Turner, Céline Dion, George Michael, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Queen, Sting, and others.

Today, he continues to be a reference and an inspiration for a new generation of artists !

The Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival brings together renowned artists from the four corners of the world. A genuine reference on the international music scene, the festival is held every year in Monaco in the extraordinary setting of the Salle des Etoiles at the Sporting Monte-Carlo. This year from 6 July to 19 August, don’t miss these unforgettable events in one of the Riviera’s most beautiful venues.
