Harlem Swing, the golden age of New York jazz at Monte-Carlo Sound Sessions!

Originally a Broadway show by Richard E. Maltby Jr., Harlem Swing will take you on a breathtaking ride to the heart of rhythm and soul at a legendary jazz club in Harlem in the 1920s.

Harlem Swing - Monte-Carlo Sound SessionsThis musical created thirty years ago in New York under the name “Ain’t Misbehavin’” combines passion and humour and makes you instantly want to get up and dance! It’s punchy, it has rhythm and it’s vocally remarkable.

Set in a cabaret in the Roaring Twenties, five black singers accompanied by six musicians do a careful rendition of the repertoire of the American singer, composer and pianist Thomas “Fats” Waller, the great jazzman of Harlem’s golden age.

Just like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, Fats succeeded in the crossover, this famous bridge between blacks and whites. He’s known for a heap of hits including “This joint is jumpin’”, How ya baby”, “Find out what they like”, “Ain’t misbehavin’” and “Black and blue”.

Every song is a mini-musical.

A delightful plunge into the world of ragtime, boogie and blues awaits you at the Monte-Carlo Sound Sessions
