Le printemps de Botticelli

Marcello Lo Giudice was born in 1955 in Taormina (Italy).  He is one of the most interesting artists on the new “informal frontier”.

Since 2003, he has created a series of “totem sculptures” representing natural mattresses that he empties, burns and attacks. The work is then painted with layers of color (pigments and enamels), both abundant and bright. These works become real icons of our time and are highly prized by international collectors.

The sculptures exhibited in the Casino Gardens are composed of a metal structure 3/4 metres high, covered with thousands of ceramic butterflies hand-painted by the artist and representing “beauty” which alights on violence and war.

Marcello Lo Giudice’s works can be viewed on his official website.
