Monte-Carlo SBM
and its partners Rolex and Audi are proud to announce the new edition of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival. Under the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II,

the 8th edition is expected to be exceptional and fascinating. It will take place between the 26 and 30 November in the prestigious Salle Garnier at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.

This famous venue that is part of Monte-Carlo’s legend and history will be brimming with the spirit of jazz during an amazing musical journey through past, present and future.

The audience, ranging from simple fans to avid connoisseurs of this musical style, will be delighted by the highlights of the 5-day programme.

To celebrate 150 years of Société des Bains de Mer, the new programme welcomes prestigious artists as well as numerous new talents for the return of this event.

Brad Mehldau
and Mark Guiliana will open the festival on 26 November taking us to the borders of jazz and funk for a new creation, Mehliana. On the same night, Larry Coryell & Juan Carmona Quartet, two guitar giants with differing styles will thrill us with an explosive, passionate performance featuring everything from flamenco to blues.

On Wednesday 27 November, the Marcus Miller Band and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra will come together for a fresh new collaboration directed by Damon Gupton. Strong links have been forged between Marcus and the Orchestra since 2008. For this new project, young talents have been invited to share the stage, from the talented Robert Glasper on the piano, Kenn Hicks, a singer fusing opera with jazz, the Brazilian harpist Edmar Castaneda, and the astounding Grégoire Maret on harmonica.

On Thursday, 28 November, with Remember Shakti, we will celebrate 40 years of friendship and music between John McLaughlin and Zakir Hussain, who create perfect chemistry and magical moments.

The evening of 29 November will be dedicated to today’s “young” talents of the European jazz scene. Raphael Gualazzi, an Italian pianist somewhere between Paolo Conte and Harry Connick Jr, is certainly one of today’s great jazz stars of tomorrow! Eric Légnini, this Belgian of Italian origin, a great gastronome, masterly mixes jazz with pop melodies and afro-beat. For this soirée we also welcome Kellylee Evans, a Canadian singer with Jamaican origin, a prodigious voice of the new jazz generation.

On Saturday 30 November, we will celebrate jazz, from soul to funk with a prestigious performance from Maceo Parker, the confidant of James Brown and one of the cornerstones of funk music. James Hunter, English blues and soul star and Charles Pasi, a seductive singer and harmonica player, will also be present.
