Roberto Alagna, a show straight from Little Italy at the Sporting Monte-Carlo!

A homage to Italian-American artists with Roberto Alagna, which will lead you to the heart of Italy on 10 August as part of the Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival 2013!

Roberto Alagna Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival 2013Little Italy: two words which sound like music. The music of the Italian immigrants who came to settle in this New York neighbourhood, bringing with them a rich musical tradition which would heavily influence American and international popular culture.

Little Italy was the birthplace of Jimmy Diana, the great grandfather of Roberto Alagna, a young fiery Italian-American and opera aficionado. This is a legacy loaded with meaning for Roberto Alagna who, after his triumphant Sicilian singing tour, now sings Italy overseas.

In his new show, Roberto Alagna presents his Little Italy and pays homage to the Italian-American artists who have shaped 20th century music. This includes the unforgettable Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra as well as pioneers such as Mario Lanza or the eccentric Louis Prima.

Roberto’s Little Italy goes beyond the borders and also pays tribute to French artists such as Nino Ferrer, Yves Montand or Serge Reggiani who have contributed to spreading Italian music culture throughout the world.
