Robin McKelle & The Flytones and Chris Rea at the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2014

The artists Robin McKelle & The Flytones and Chris Rea will be on stage at the Opéra Garnier de Monte-Carlo on Friday 28 November 2014, as part of the 9th Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival!

Robin McKelle & The Flytones « Heart of Memphis »

Robin McKelle & The FlytonesRobin McKelle was introduced to France through two big band swing jazz albums: «Introducing Robin McKelle» (2006) and “Modern ancient” (2008). Seduced by jazz of the 1940s, she chooses to rekindle old memories by interpreting standards of the time.

In 2010, the singer makes a brave turn in her career with the album «Mess Around», coloured with blues and soul. In 2012, «Soul Flower» confirms her new style launched with The Flytones, allowing her to assert her own identity by writing most of the songs on the album. An identity confirmed when her latest album «Heart of Memphis» (2014) is released, ending the soul trilogy.

In « Heart of Memphis », the powerful and finely husky voiced singer oscillates between soul, country music and rhythm’n’blues. She plays with genres and draws us into a world of great American popular music, highlighting the unique quality of her compositions.

Chris Rea “The Last Open Road Tour”

Chris ReaBritish author, composer, and actor, Chris Rea began his musical career in Magdalene, a 1973 rock group and has since known critical acclaim in his solo career. He achieved notoriety with his 1987 single Josephine followed by the hit, Road to Hell in 1989.

In 2002, the musician decides to return to his Blues roots, creating « Dancing Down the Stony Road ». A year later,Chris Rea creates his own record label, Jazzee Blue. After that, he starts producing albums, cleverly combining jazz and blues such as 2003’s « Blue Street (Five Guitars) ». In this instrumental album, he demonstrates his proficiency as a guitar player.

Staying true to his blues “back to basics”, the husky voiced singer still surprises with a very beautiful creation bringing new wind to the musical revival, « The Return of the Fabulous Hofner Blue Notes » (2008) as demonstrated in the surprising Russian Roulette.
