Surrounded by the superb architectural heritage of the Principality and of Monte-Carlo, the Société des Bains de Mer presents only the best of what hotels, gastronomy, art, music and design have to offer. Come discover all this and more on the weekend of 5-6 July 2013.
For one night only, Monte-Carlo SBM will transform the Place du Casino into a pop-up garden. For one special weekend, Monte-Carlo SBM will hold a festival of the senses with the most prestigious artists.
A unique and unprecedented party open to all visitors and friends of Monte-Carlo will be held on the legendary Place du Casino, which will be transformed into a deliciously sensual Mediterranean garden with grass, grapevines and olive trees, all beautifully staged by landscape architect Jean Mus.
In this evanescent garden, Chef Alain Ducasse brings his own personal touch and surprises with the help of the chefs in the group. He has conceptualised for the occasion an original version of “Dîner sur l’Herbe” (Luncheon on the Grass), a tribute to the work of Edouard Manet whose masterpiece was created the same year that the Société des Bains de Mer was founded. For over 25 years at the Louis XV, Alain Ducasse has been delighting palates with environmentally friendly cuisine that focuses on the basics: simple and delicious food. His quest for perfect produce reveals the strengths and depth of Mediterranean cuisine. Fresh, festive and elegant at the same time, this quick and delicious cuisine will offered to guests on Friday 5 July.
The evening will continue with a unique and eclectic concert at the Opera Garnier, a superb architectural monument by Charles Garnier inaugurated in 1879. Jean-René Palacio, artistic director of the Société des Bains de Mer, has brought together the prestigious Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, the virtuoso pianist Lang Lang, Dame Shirley Bassey and talented jazz-pop pianist Jamie Cullum.
From 10pm, the garden for a night on the Place du Casino will be open to the public with fun and surprises planned for all present!
To end the party on an artistic note, a viewing of the marvellous Monte-Carlo fait son cinéma (Monte-Carlo takes to film) will take place on the casino’s rear terrace. This original film is a montage of excerpts filmed in Monte-Carlo and edited by the students of the Factory film school. An emotional flashback of Monaco’s cinematographic history, the film will be shown free of charge every evening throughout the summer.
To complete the acoustic theme that Michel Redolfi, composer and musician, created for this exceptional open-air cinema experience at the foot of the Opera, the terrace will be transformed all summer long into a magical setting where visitors can immerse themselves in the natural sounds of the Principality. Comfortably seated in contemporary lounge chairs with integrated speakers, viewers take part in an outdoor sensory experience.
