The Casino de Monte-Carlo welcomes the Women’s Chess Grand Prix

 
 

WOMEN’S FIDE GRAND PRIX, MONTE-CARLO 2015

Women’s Chess Grand Prix, 3rd to 15th of October 2015.

The Grand Prix is organised by the Fédération Monégasque des Echecs, supported by the Société des Bains de Mer and the Casino de Monte-Carlo, sponsored by GPB GLOBAL RESOURCES

 

The games will be held in the Salon TOUZET in the Casino de Monte-Carlo from October3rd-15th.

 

Each round will begin at 3 pm every day, except on October 15th at 2 pm and the 7th and 12th of October, which are days off.

 

 All matches will be streamed live on the Grand Prix site: http://monaco2015.fide.com/

 

Matches will be commented live by Grand Master Ljubomir LJUBOJEVIC.

 

The Women’s Grand Prix is refereed by:

  • Geurt GIJSSEN, Head Referee, (Holland), Geurt GIJSSEN notably refereed a match in the 1990 World Final between Gary KASPAROV and Anatoly KARPOV.
  • Anastasia SOROKINA, Joint Referee, (Australia)

 

The Fédération Internationale des Echecs, (FIDE) published the 2015-2016 Women’s Grand Prix cycle, a qualifying leg of the 2017 World Championship.

 

 In total, 18 players will each participate in 4 of the 6 Grand Prix tournaments.

 

The first of these 6 legs will be help in Monte-Carlo from the 2nd to the 15th of October 2015.

 The 5 other cycles of the tournament will be held in:

 

  • Kish in Iran, February 2016
  • Tbilissi in Georgia, May 2016
  • Chengdu in Chine, July 2016
  • Kiev in Ukraine, October 2016
  • Oulan-Bator in Mongolia, January 2017.

The top three Grand Prix de Monte-Carlo winners will be awarded trophies. The prize pool totals 75.000€

 

Two beauty prizes will be awarded to the two most beautiful games. Prizes donated by Mr and Mrs JJ Van OOSTEROM, and the Société des Bains de Mer.

 

Two rest days are scheduled: Wednesday October 7th and Monday October 12th.

October 7th, Day Off:

  • 11 am, private tour of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.
  • 6 pm: in honour of “2015 Année de la Russie à Monaco”, Almira SKRIPCHENKO will simultaneously play on 20 chess boards, salon Médecin.

October 12th, Day Off

  • 6:30 pm, Department of State reception

Spectator admission is free, under conditions of being over 18 years of age, with a form of identification and a Grand Prix flyer. The flyer can be acquired at the Office du Tourism desk.
