A repertoire influenced by New Orleans music

For more than 35 years, Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band, directed by Eddy Davis, have enchanted the public, thanks to a repertoire influenced by New Orleans music. The Jazz Band finds its inspiration in music that Woody Allen has loved since childhood, such as Sidney Bechet, George Lewis, Johnny Dodds, Jimmie Noone and Louis Armstrong.

Their repertoire consists of 1,200 hits that were popular at the beginning of the 20th century: spirituals, blues and rags.

A band that has been making music for 35 years

Every performance is unique and includes energetic and spontaneous improvisations. Thanks to the band’s long-lasting bond, they are going on their first European tour in 1996. The documentary film called Wild Man Blues is the chronicle of this tour. For the last 10 years, the band has been performing once a week at the Carlyle Hotel in New York.

Two months after the release of his most recent film Magic in the Moonlight, Woody Allen will be back on the French Riviera to perform on stage at the Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo, on Monday 29 December for a single concert.
