The 2022 Winter Holiday Dessert Competition took place at One Monte-Carlo, with a judging panel comprising both customers and industry professionals.
The competitors – all members of the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer group – rose to the occasion, presenting original and complex creations, by putting childhood memories in the spotlight.
But it was “La boîte gourmande à musique ”, the trompe l'oeil creation of Cyril NATTA and Jonathan BARBAGALLO, the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo pastry team, which met with the judges’ unanimous approval!
This exquisite dessert combines a childhood favourite of sweet toffee with zingy exotic fruit flavours, promising the perfect after-dinner or tea-time bite – a standout sweet experience!
Its realism and refinement are highlighted by its design and the details of a real music box. Its personality is underlined by a light, refined and fragrant taste. Its red colour instantly evokes the sweet delicacies of the festive period.
Why a music box?
Cyril NATTA & Jonathan BARBAGALLO: "We had the idea of making an old music box as a souvenir of the past when technology was absent from traditions. The music box was a toy that gave happiness to children, memories to parents and grandparents, it also brought joy and cheerfulness. Our choice was motivated by the fact that traditions stand the test of time and technology will come and go."
