Operas and lyrical performances

For her fifth season at the helm of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, artistic director Cecilia Bartoli brings lyric art to life by bringing together some of the stars of the stage: Anna Netrebko, Asmik Grigorian, Ludovic Tézier, Lisette Oropesa, Benjamin Bernheim, Leah Hawkins, and Jonathan Tetelman.

They will perform operatic masterpieces: Bizet’s Carmen, Wagner’s Siegfried, Verdi’s Rigoletto, Beethoven’s Fidelio in concert version, and more. But also, more distinctive offerings, with Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria performed by puppets and the participation of the Cape Town Opera Chorus.

The director has put together a season that is rooted in tradition whilst daring to embrace new forms, built around the theme of “impossible loves.” Traditional operatic identity will nonetheless be fully present.
