What’s on in Monaco during the Formula 1 Grand Prix?

From May 21 to 24, 2020 the Principality of Monaco will thrum with the frenetic energy of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, one of the world’s most extraordinary motorsports events. Whether you’re an F1 fanatic or just a keen observer, the electrifying 78th Grand Prix is the perfect opportunity to take in some amazing sites and activities organized specially for the occasion. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines for four unforgettable days with the champions and their cars!

#1 Experience the race in the Paddock Lounge at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo 

From free practice sessions to the podium itself, the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo’s Belle Époque room will be hosting the Paddock Lounge, a true race control tower! With big screens, Formula 1 simulators and a DJ set, it will ensure you feel totally immersed in the race. If you prefer to be outdoors, the terrace offers unspoiled views over Port Hercules as well as the exhilarating Beau Rivage climb. And don’t forget to check out the racing car on display in the center of the room.

#2 Enjoy lunch at the heart of Monaco’s race track 

During the competition, Monaco’s restaurants are abuzz with the spirit of Formula 1, particularly those located in the heart of the action, such as the Bar Américain, L’Hirondelle in the Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo and the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo. Attractions include great views of the track, big screens showing every minute of the race, and menus that are as exciting as the event itself!

#3 Get a nuts-and-bolts view of the race during a pit-stop walk 

This year, the Automobile Club de Monaco is once again offering its two-day Belvedere pack, which gives access to the pit lanes between two practice sessions and a chance to come into contact with staff from the various teams. It is a unique and unforgettable glimpse into the inner workings of the race.

#4 Meet some former racing drivers 

Is it your dream to enjoy a couple of drinks with a champ? Then on the evening of May 22, come and spend an hour with some Formula 1 legends who have made the Monaco track their own. You’ll be able to ask them all your burning questions as you sip on a choice beverage. The 2020 guest list is still under wraps, but David Coulthard, Martin Brundle, Paul di Resta and Allan McNish were all present last year! 

#5 Join in the Friday night festivities beside the lagoon 

With race day just around the corner after two days of tense practice sessions, it’s time to release all that adrenaline and head to the Lagoon Racing Beach Party for a gorgeous evening around the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort’s fabulous lagoon. Dancers, activities, and a live DJ set are sure to turn up the heat ahead of the big day.

#6 Party the night away at Jimmy’z and La Rascasse 

Monaco’s legendary Jimmy’z nightclub is open every evening throughout the Monaco Grand Prix for motorsports enthusiasts and clubbers alike. So come and enjoy the music of the world’s best DJs, whose hip-hop, dance and house tunes will get you dancing at full throttle! And for a little variety, La Rascasse also has a buzzing dance floor and a terrace just a few yards from the track itself, where the thrum of the engines lingers well after the race has come to a close.

Get an insider’s view of the cars 
How about an insider’s tip for a close-up view of the racing cars? Rumor has it that Formula Renault will be stopping off in the Monte-Carlo Country Club’s car park before heading to the track, giving aficionados the chance to witness the ignition of the racing cars and watch a few test runs. In a sport that remains largely hidden from view, this is a rare opportunity to get up close to the cars. But you didn’t hear it from us…
