On turning fifty this year, MAGMA entered the very exclusive circle of groups that have emerged from five decades without ever putting down their instruments! With Christian Vander at the helm, the age-old French band have always navigated music as outsiders, off the beaten track of fashion. With their staunchly original music, they’ve preserved the most extreme artistic standards while opening up to a wide audience of all ages. Not only have MAGMA kept their fans from the early days, but throughout these fifty years new generations have steadily increased the band’s following, making them timeless. From one tour to the next, the group have represented the French music scene across every continent. Those first exposed to MAGMA experience an unusual artistic shock. MAGMA also run the full gamut of musical tastes, so much so that they’re the only group capable of playing at such a large range of venues. These include Jazz à Vienne, Hellfest and the Philharmonie de Paris.
After a break in 2018 to record an album entitled ZËSS with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the group will be back on the road and making a special stopover in Monaco on May 15th and 16th to perform this live work with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra for the very first time.
