Michel Jonasz
Touring with the album Soul, Michel Jonasz is revisiting his hits in a festive, joyful spirit, surrounded by the immense Manu Katché on drums and the virtuoso Jean-Yves d'Angelo on keyboards.
Je voulais te dire que je t’attends, Joueurs de blues, Lucille… just some of the classic songs performed by the warm voice of this French blues man.
A versatile artist, Michel Jonasz had a go at theatre, and then painting as a teen, before leaving high school to embrace his musical vocation. Fascinated by American musicians like Ray Charles for the soul, and Otis Redding or else Little Richard, more rock’n’roll, he convinced his parents to use their family allowance to buy him an electric piano.
He became the pianist for the groups Kenty et les Skylarks, Vigon et les Lemmons, and then the singer for the King Set before starting his solo career. After releasing several albums in his own name, he wrote songs for other singers such as Françoise Hardy (with Gabriel Yared) or Diane Dufresne.
A born traveller, ready to leave with his backpack, he could always be found where he was least expected: with his musical Mister Swing in 1988 which won the Victoire de la Musique award for the Best Show, or composing the soundtracks for the films Clara et les chics types and Miss Missouri. He regularly appeared in films and on television as an actor.
After the Réunis vers l'Uni and Groove shows, and the sold-out dates on his blues tribute tour, a plethora of talented musicians and backing singers will accompany him in a new show with soul and R&B influences.
At 78 years young, the artist and his music are enjoying a new lease of life… Roll on Jonasz!
