A dog’s life in Monaco

Updated on January 20, 2026

At Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, dogs are pampered around the clock, and this attentive care may inspire them to behave impeccably. Services include main courses, desserts, stylish and casual accessories embroidered with the names of Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo or Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, and à la carte walks.

A catering service tailored to dogs

Gaspard remains determined: he wants more roast chicken ice cream! That day, all the little pots of Delamour's Originale flavour sold out quickly, as Marlow's product was a hit. The server reassures them: "Here, all ice creams taste like roast chicken and are designed to support digestive health based on recipes from a veterinary nutritionist." Only the colours vary. While Gaspard is fine with orange, the 'Vitaminée' flavour aims to support his metabolic balance, and the pink 'Fruitée' offers anti-inflammatory benefits. The green 'Spirulinée', with its spirulina aftertaste, is intended to boost his immune system.

Such is life at Marlow

When it is bedtime, the basket will be ready at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo or the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo. The overnight fee is 60 euros. Both 5-star hotels consider pets under 15 kg as VIPs, marked with "P" for "Pets".

Room service chefs can prepare dishes using minced beef or chicken breast, served with rice and vegetables. The Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo offers a 180-gram portion, while the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo serves 120-gram dishes of poached or grilled meat. These meals can be enjoyed at Le Limùn bar, located within the lobby of the 5-star hotel.

For walks, the concierges provide a bespoke service. External dog-sitters can also be arranged.

Staying at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo also allows guests to update their toys and accessories. Since last winter, the hotel has provided baskets in small and large sizes, available in navy blue or black. The collection is further complemented by matching blankets, bowls, collars, and toys, all bearing the "Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo" label.

Recipes developed with nutritional needs in mind

Dr. Eric Charles, a veterinary nutritionist, created the recipes for the Delamour brand and discusses why dogs enjoy ice cream.

Why do dogs like ice cream so much?

Eric Charles: Because they have difficulty regulating their body temperature, they enjoy licking ice cream. The cold on their tongue provides a pleasant sensation. 100% of dogs like ice cream.

Why did you imagine a roasted chicken ice cream for dogs?

Eric Charles: We aimed to develop a product clearly dedicated to the animal. The 'roast chicken' scent communicates to owners that dogs deserve food that is both delicious and healthful, specifically made for them.

Do dogs really have taste?

Eric Charles: Absolutely! They possess a genuine sense of taste, even if it differs from ours. Their palate instinctively favours digestible, protein-rich foods.

Does the dog believe it is eating its daily protein ration with roast chicken ice cream?

Eric Charles: It's important to remember that a dog is a carnivore and requires about 3 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight daily, whereas a man needs 1 gram and a woman 0.8 grams. Although dogs mainly enjoy ice cream for its texture and freshness, they also appreciate roast chicken because the flavour makes them feel like they're eating what their owner does.

What are the nutritional benefits of Delamour ice creams?

Eric Charles: The recipes are low in fat and sugar, made with skimmed and lactose-free milk, and enriched with vitamin B9, spirulina, polyphenols, prebiotics, and probiotics. They support the balance of the dog's microbiota.

Last September, Princess Charlene participated in the launch of the photographic book "It’s a Dog’s Life Monaco" on the Easy Group terrace. Published by Carob Tree Publishing and priced at 150 euros, the book features portraits of dogs across the Principality over 340 pages, including unseen images of the Princely Family with their dogs. Created by Jessica Fry and sponsored by EasyPet, it is available at the Drugstore on Avenue de Monte-Carlo. All proceeds benefit the L’Abri / SPA de Monaco shelter, which is overseen by Princess Charlene.
