About Vanessa Paradis
Her music is sometimes ethereal, sometimes spirited. The French singer has teamed up with Étienne Daho and Jean-Louis Piérot to produce an album infused with pop joy and seventies soul.
Since her previous album, Les Sources, in 2018, time has flown by. Vanessa Paradis has devoted herself to cinema and theatre, while writing and composing songs that her friend, Étienne Daho, was one of the few people allowed to hear. Belonging to the same musical galaxy, they have aligned their planets to celebrate Le Retour des beaux jours. "I wanted to blend our universes and specific sounds, linked in particular to our shared love of 60s and 70s soul music", says Vanessa. I was thinking about songs that make you want to dance, because I love that. I also love it when the audience dances and jumps for joy during concerts." Both ethereal and turbulent, this eighth record, co-written and produced with Jean-Louis Piérot too, conjures up orange skies after lightning. Always seeking bliss, Vanessa Paradis seeks out the zenithal light between breaks, moments of silence and guitar or piano gimmicks. This bliss distils her songs, arranged with expert precision, making the heart, temples and tempo beat. In addition to the emotion of Élégie, we experience both casual breakups and absolute love, the light-heartedness of a musical and a deliciously retro groove.
