As head bartender of the venue, he belongs to a generation for whom the cocktail is neither about effect nor performance alone, but about a more subtle art: that of balance, precision and shared pleasure. His path took shape early on, between technical training and hands-on experience.

 

What sets Julien Lecharpentier apart is his relationship with the product. He himself embraces a sommelier-like approach to spirits, from the distillery to the moment of service. For him, creation is never separate from an intimate understanding of an ingredient, its history, its aromatic structure and its ability to enter into dialogue with other elements. This culture of detail is accompanied by a genuine desire to pass on knowledge: to discover, to understand, and then to help others discover.

 

His career has also been marked by distinctions. First place at the Saint-Germain Spritz 2024, third place at the Trophée des Bars 2023, third place at the Margarita Challenge 2024, as well as several finals and podium finishes since 2018: these competitions honour a profile that is both creative and rigorous, already recognised in the world of bars.

 

At Gustave, this high standard finds a setting worthy of it. Julien Lecharpentier develops a mixology that is innovative in its techniques, yet always clear in its intention. For him, technique only has value when it disappears behind emotion. A great cocktail must seduce through its sense of ease, surprise without ever imposing itself, and leave a lasting impression.

 

Alongside Frank Carcamo, the venue’s director, with whom he has been collaborating for eight years, he helps shape an identity where excellence in the bar meets excellence in hospitality. Together, they imagine for Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo a destination with character, elegant without ostentation, ambitious without rigidity, already set to become one of the most desirable signatures on the Riviera.
