The pastry chef with twenty million followers has become a regular visitor to the Principality. Still amazed by the craze surrounding his trompe-l'oeil desserts, which have become famous around the world, he spends a night or two each month at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, where he opened a boutique last summer: Cedric Grolet Monte-Carlo.
When was your first visit to Monaco?
Cedric Grolet: Seven years ago, to work during a Grand Prix. As a Formula 1 fan, it was a very happy experience.

Cedric Grolet: Respect, sunshine, thank you.
Your three favourite places?
Cedric Grolet: Le Rocher, the Place du Casino, the Route de la Moyenne Corniche which descends from Cap d'Ail to Monaco.

Cédric Grolet: At work.
If Monaco were a cake?
Cédric Grolet: A powdered, pastel-coloured dessert in the shape of a rose.

What was your last happy moment in the Principality?
Cedric Grolet: A Negroni cocktail at Le Grill. Everything was perfect: the size and thickness of the glass, the volume of the ice cube, the balance of flavour and colour...
What is your favourite time and place?
Cedric Grolet: 5 p.m. at the harbour.
Where is the perfect place to relax without being disturbed?
Cedric Grolet: The Bar Americain at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo.
