6 unmissable Christmas experiences in Monaco

The Christmas spirit is taking over Monaco, and the city is starting to sparkle. From admiring the lights to wining and dining, and visiting the luxury Christmas market, here are six incredible ways to enjoy an unforgettable, starry-eyed Christmas in Monaco.

#1 A relaxing Christmas: mountain vibes in Monaco

Take the chill off your festive season in a chic and cosy corner of Monaco. From 5 December to 5 January, the Blue Gin bar at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort is transforming into a mountain chalet, complete with views across the Mediterranean. Tuck yourself up in a cosy blanket and enjoy afternoon tea or a Christmas cocktail, before setting the dance floor alight after dark during the Winter Party!

Tranquil luxury and exquisite pleasure are the order of the day over at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, where the patio will transform into an elegant winter garden from 6 December to 5 January. Enjoy delicious treats amongst the sparkling fir trees, and watch dreamlike after-dark performances every weekend.

This enchanting space will be bathed in light, with all the decorations – including the balloons flying overhead – themed around “Good Luck”.

Every evening from 28 to 31 December, the front of the Casino will be getting all dressed up in a magnificent sound and light show that’s not to be missed! Or venture into the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo just next door for a Christmas that’s simply dazzling. During the holidays, the palace glitters and gleams with precious gems, and the lobby will be home to a majestic Christmas tree decorated by renowned jeweller Chopard.

#3 A sporty Christmas: the 25th U Giru de Natale

Running around finishing your Christmas shopping may be considered quite athletic – especially if you train for it! So pull on your running shoes and take part in the U Giru de Natale, the race that’s synonymous with Christmas in Monaco. This year will be its 25th year, and will see over 2,000 runners make their way through the streets of Monaco on 15 December. There are circuits designed for all ages, making it the perfect festive event to enjoy with family.

Cool off after your workout by taking to the water for the Monaco Christmas Swim on 21 December. Meet at the beach outside Le Méridien Beach Plaza for this traditional sea swim, and warm up afterwards with breakfast and a raffle. By taking part, you’ll also be doing your bit for the Happy Hands charity, who work for people with disabilities.

As a bonus, you can even enjoy a break for some hot chocolate or Champagne and caviar in the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo chalet, before enjoying a spin on the wooden carousel on the Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo esplanade.

Another shopping destination promising all the magic of the festive season is the Monaco Christmas Village, which will be at Port Hercules from 6 December to 5 January. It’s a must-visit for families, with not only a Christmas market but a carousel, a big wheel and an ice-skating rink too, not to mention a host of creative workshops and magical shows.
