They emerge, in an abundance of hues. They influence our mood, shift our state of mind. Colors help us make sense of the world around us.
They match and complement, ever leading us to probe our perceived neutrality. Is that one shade... or two? Green or blue: orange or ochre? A different time, different place, and they transform once again. Color can show us what we truly desire.
As the seasons change, colors come alive. Spring is often when Mother Nature’s many hues begin to creep back into the world, and it is only when they re-enter our lives that we realise just how important they are. The language of color is extraordinary. In nature it is everywhere, reflecting everything from life to light. And that is exactly what we need. Life and light. In glorious color!
When you look at the images and symbols around Monaco, it is the vibrancy of it all that stands out. The mix of primary colors is bold and bright, as if to eschew the need for shades and hues in the search for sparkle.
But here at the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer Resort, a splendid – albeit subtle – rainbow of colors awaits. They are elegance and sophistication incarnate, masterfully incorporated to capture the very essence of the place.
There is, for example, the gold that highlights the subtlest of details at the Casino de Monte-Carlo, or the patina of the equestrian status of Louis XIV in the Lobby of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo... accentuating its history, tradition and reverie, and breathing life into its identity, fabrics and furnishings. It also gilds the decorations of Buddha-Bar Monte-Carlo, lending credence to its grandeur.
Then there’s red: the color of love. Both eye-catching and regal, from the deep red of the carpeted staircase to the Eiffel mezzanine, to the daring red of the couch in the Winter Garden at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo. And that’s not all... there’s the passionate, thrilling red of Craps dice too, bringing a pop of color to every gamer’s fate.
Blue creates depth. The Mediterranean shimmers azure and sapphire against the hues of the Riviera, horizon and sky. It is Monaco’s signature shade: its identity. From the hotel windows, the Diamond Suite jacuzzis, the olympic pool at the Monte-Carlo Beach and the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort’s lagoon, blue surrounds La Vigie Lounge & Restaurant like a mirage. It also symbolises the relaxing water and healing harmony of Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo.
From time to time, colors combine... Like with green, for example, where two primary colors – of the sun and the sea – come together to create verdant lushness. The Resort’s Green Globe certification proudly demonstrates its environmental commitments, as do the gardens of the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. The Jardins des Boulingrins, too, are becoming a fabulous natural space, complete with all the plant life so loved here in Monaco. That’s not all: who could fail to mention the indispensable green baize of the gaming tables at the Casino de Monte-Carlo, handmade in specialist games studios? The green of the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo’s historic cupola is also a lasting reminder of the Belle Epoque.
There’s the earthy naturalness of ochre, too, as seen on the clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club and in the island vibes given off by the facade of the Monte-Carlo Beach.
Simply inseparable are black and white. First, there’s the perfect purity of white: a flawless tablecloth at Le Louis XV - Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris, or sheets gently caressing you to sleep during your stay. Then there’s black: chic and sassy, it is the epitome of elegant refinement and an effortless reminder of shade and hue.
Rosy pink, too: the color of the flowers. Princess Grace adores roses so much, in fact, rosebushes on the terrace are used to decorate the eponymous suite at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo. Then there’s the pink of a gourmet pastry: ready to be devoured, and holding the fleeting promise of mouth-watering temptation. Of course, pink can be modern, too: just look at boudoir style, and the elegant details of Mada One.
Sunshine, energy… it’s got to be yellow. Yellow awakens the skin. It is the sun that soaks the Riviera all year round: the mimosa trees that dot the landscape like glittering jewels. It’s the Sunshine Suite at the Monte-Carlo Beach, where the sun feels like nothing you’ve experienced before.
Lastly, there’s the vitality of orange. The energy of the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. The bitter Seville oranges made so sweet at the masterful hands of Michelin-starred chef Marcel Ravin, whose culinary voyages at the Blue Bay and L’Orange Verte are vibrant with color.
Now we’ve shown you our true colors, we have one other thing to show you, too: our Spring programme. Hope has shining eyes that see the world in vivid color... with getaways to suit every season, we hope this programme will help you look ahead to brighter times.
These too will be in glorious technicolor, with the arrival of three Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno to the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo. There’s also the gourmet food festival, brought to you by the Resort with the most Michelin stars in Europe. The F1 Monaco Grand Prix and the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters are just around the corner, too! The Monte-Carlo Beach’s brand-new sandy shore will be open, while wonderful surprises for all ages await guests at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. And that’s not all: there’s the new Queen of Art installation at the heart of the Casino de Monte-Carlo, along with music and much more, bringing life to a Monaco that is still standing strong.
