The Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, an occasion to look back in six key dates at the most beautiful memories of this hotel complex, the only one of its kind in Monaco.
On 5 October, the latest addition to the Monte-Carlo Group Société des Bains de Mer opens, the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. The four-star resort in heart of a four-hectare Mediterranean garden overlooking the sea on the Larvotto peninsula offers a range of amenities the Principality had never seen before: 332 rooms, including 22 suites, restaurants, a bar, swimming pool, lagoon, casino, spa, etc.—the start of a promising adventure on the French Riviera at a chic, relaxed resort!
The resort receives the Green Globe environmental certification, a prestigious international label recognising its commitment to sustainable development. A dedicated team, the "Bay Be Green Team", has steered and strengthened that approach year after year. One of the world’s most environmentally virtuous resorts, it is an energy transition trailblazer in Monaco, installing solar panels on its roof and a supercharger for electric cars (in 2019).
The gastronomic restaurant Blue Bay receives its first star in the Michelin guide, a consecration for chef Marcel Ravin and his team. It was "a feeling of pride tinged with modesty, the culmination of hard, painful and demanding work,” recalls the chef. “But the results everybody desired were finally achieved!" Passionately creative, Mr. Ravin never stops innovating, as he did for the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort's 10th anniversary dinner, a 10-course gustatory journey conceived as a dinner in reverse.
The hotel opens the Sea Bay area, a magical place to relax by the Mediterranean Sea and swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Larvotto nature reserve. This exclusive area supplements the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort's dream pool offer, with its unique sandy bottom lagoon and swimming pool meandering through a lush garden, which was crowned Best Hotel Pool in Europe at the 2019 Resort Awards.
The Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort brilliantly cultivates the art of hospitality and entertainment. Its chic yet relaxed events, such as the Maona evenings with Caribbean accents, the Summer Beach Parties or the 1001 Nights parties, are among the most popular in Monaco. This expertise was recognised that year with the Monte Carlo Hospitality Award for Excellence presented to Managing Director Frédéric Darnet and the following year with the Manager of the Year award at the 2019 Trophées de l’Éco de Monaco.
The exceptionally luxurious Diamond Suite Eleven opens. Perched on the hotel’s top floor, it offers one of the most beautiful views of the Mediterranean in a refined setting. This is the latest addition to the hotel's prestigious range of suite accommodation, such as the Rafael Nadal Suite, chosen by the tennis champion for his stays in Monaco.
“Shortly before closing, we saw a gentleman in a bathrobe and sunglasses arrive, walking behind a lady asking us to show him the hamam. It was Lenny Kravitz, who warms up his voice with steam. He treated us a to a small private concert!” Spa Cinq Mondes/Drugstore Manager Patricia Kintzinger
“On the day of the first breakfast service at the Blue Bay restaurant in October 2005, a guest called me and told me that he wanted to buy the hotel and meet the general manager. I thought it was a joke until I found out it was Mr Al-Fayed, the owner of Harrods! He was told, 'Sir, the hotel is not for sale'. I said to myself, we’ve made it. The Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort is going to be really special." Restaurant Manager Frederic Nardello
