Lydie and Philippe Chambon are loyal customers of the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer Group, and American Express Centurion cardholders. Here are their impressions of the new-look Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo and Ômer restaurant.
A weekend getaway in Monaco allows us to escape the grey Parisian weather and enjoy a relaxing, sunny break by the sea.” Philippe Chambon has been visiting the Principality since he was a child, and has seen the country evolve over the years. He and his wife, Lydie, choose to stay in the Group’s establishments when they come here. The busy working couple use the American Express Concierge service to organize their trips. “They know what we like to do. Over time we’ve developed a real understanding.”
The rebirth of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo
“We had an unforgettable break. We love fine establishments where you feel comfortable, almost as if you’re part of the family, with high-quality yet discreet service. That’s what we get at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, where we’ve been coming regularly for years. One of our holiday treats is dinner at Le Grill, along with cocktails at the Bar Américain. We were looking forward to seeing the renovations, and we were very impressed. At first glance, when you go through the entrance and lobby, you don’t notice the changes straight away, but when you focus on the details, such as the paint and gilded columns, they start to jump out at you and provide a modern touch without betraying the original spirit of the hotel.”
State-of-the-art technology in the rooms
“We loved all the various updates such as the smart home technology and mirror TVs. The fact that the screen and appliances like the coffee maker and kettle are built into the furnishings makes you feel like you’re in a private apartment rather than a hotel. It’s great. The interior décor reflects the idea of renewal while maintaining the tradition of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo.”
A complete experience
“For us, one of the main advantages of Monaco is having so many shops, concert venues – especially the Sporting, where we like to go in the summer – and the Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo within a short walk of our hotel. You can enjoy all these activities without wasting time, and above all without having to get into a car, thanks to the shuttle service. And the final detail that makes all the difference is the ability to charge everything you spend in the Resort establishments to your room. This means you don’t have to carry your credit card with you, and you can pay for everything at once. Not to mention all the special perks you get as American Express customers. Needless to say we’re already planning our next trip to Monaco!” By Caroline Sempé
