Casinos have shaped Monaco and been the source of its legendary status since 1863.
If we can credit just one thing to Monaco’s reputation as the top destination for the world’s best gamblers and the public alike - and the most beautiful and luxurious one at that - it is its casinos’ endless capacity for reinvention. They are a fine blend of tradition and innovation.
What better way could there be to explore Monaco? It all starts on the Place du Casino, an icon of the Principality. Here, life bubbles over with a palpable excitement. The Place is home to Monte-Carlo Casino, a location which has come to represent casinos at their most luxurious. The Café de Paris Casino is just yards away, overflowing with slot machines and the latest innovations.
Alongside the games, there is so much to discover. One reason why Monaco never fails to please is that it is a destination which has constantly reinvented itself since the late 19th century. The Principality is bursting with life and people come from all around the world to try its endlessly fun activities.
The casinos at the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer are no exception, with each in its own inimitable way offering far more than games or slot machines. Their lounges, gourmet restaurants and temporary art installations make them essential spots for getting to know life in Monaco and its people.
Monte-Carlo Casino
From the Touzet rooms to the Atrium and the gardens to the famous façade, Monte-Carlo Casino has become symbolic of the Principality of Monaco. This Belle Époque setting has embodied the spirit of the casino experience for a century and a half and was partly designed by Charles Garnier at the behest of François Blanc, who founded Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer after being asked by Prince Charles III to transform Monaco into a luxury paradise.
The Monte-Carlo Casino’s original spirit remains very much intact and it offers a fantastic variety of table games, including the rare and incomparable European roulette. Every game is a real spectacle to behold, dancing to the beat set by the energetic calls and skilled technique of some of the Casino’s best croupiers. Other tables offer craps, Poker Texas Hold’em Ultimate, Black Jack and Punto Banco. There are the latest slot machines too.
The various games are spread out between different themed rooms, all of them located near deluxe spaces such as the Salon Rose, a brasserie serving lunch and dinner; Le Train Bleu, for evening dining; the Bar Lounge in the Salle Europe; and the Café Rotonde.
The Café de Paris Casino
Just opposite the Monte-Carlo Hôtel de Paris, the Café de Paris Casino is a well-known sight for anyone familiar with the Place du Casino in Monaco, adjacent to the famous Monte-Carlo Café de Paris. With its terraces, slot machines and other cutting-edge video poker games, and electronic roulette, this hotspot is a leading location for expert gamblers, but it is also the perfect place for beginners to learn the ropes. Jackpots and special events add spice to this casino with a relentless focus on fun.
